Marvellous, wish I had bought it in January, so nice to have a nose at the garden, but best of all, day by day guide to what to plant.. thanks great instagram account too ..
Charles Dowding did it again. The information and references in his Energies book have given me new avenues to explore in my gardening journey. Yes, gardening for me is a journey of discovery to find more beautiful, abundant, healthy, and easier ways of growing food. Charles has earned my respect and admiration.
Charles' contribution to society and culture is immeasurable and will forever improve lives around the world. My wish is that one day King Charles of England knights Charles Dowding for his increasingly important work spreading the word on no-dig gardening. Kevin W.
No Dig is easy to read. It's set out in small sections & the language is inclusive. It is a wonderful sharing of years of experience of growing veg! I took a degree in Horticulture 50 years ago but found it hard to get my head around the tight time scales needed to succeed with vegetable growing. No Dig was mentioned as a possible method but without the underlying theory that Charles Dowding explains so I never had the courage till now. I am 70 & I have taken on an allotment that has been cultivated by the same person for 30 years. He died 2 seasons ago & left 8x4mx1m beds covered in black plastic & 2 bays of well-rotted compost which I am barrowing out as fast as my unfit, ancient body can manage! I've also connected with 2 village shops to collect their cardboard weekly & yesterday one had 2 pallets going free! I am in heaven each time I go down there & after working for an hour I sit in my gifted folding chair & listen to the birdsong . Thank you Charles for enabling my dream of an organic No Dig allotment to grow along with my plants!
Need help with No Dig around established, weedy fruit bushes & trees, though. Is there a book for this?
I’ve been gardening semi successfully for 30 years. The skills book just helped me so much as did many of Charles’s other books. Thank you x
The least I can say is that I am delighted at all levels, the quality of the content is top of the list, the graphic quality is high, the teaching is clear and straightforward, and the list could go on... I have made a few attempts to plant a small family garden, but this course, and I am still only halfway through "No Dig Gardening", is motivating me to use the method and make my garden a place of leisure for me and my family, and who knows, maybe start a small commercial farm. Congratulations to Charles Dowding for the way he runs the course and to the entire team. Definitely money well spent.
My friend has an allotment in Winchester and she was so impressed with mine, I bought a calendar for her. She was thrilled!
Really pleased with the No Dig starter pack! The books are so informative, a thoroughy comprehensive explanation of all aspects of No Dig and more.
I will use them for many years to come as my virtual gardening partner, it’s the next best thing to having Charles stood by my side advising me in person!
We moved into our new house just over a year ago, following my retirement, specifically because it has the room and facilities to really get stuck into gardening on a much larger scale than we have in the past. I spent last year sorting the basic infrastructure out by refurbing 2 large derelict greenhouses (a 60ft & 40ft one) and building a 40+ft compost building similar to the one at Homeacres. So excited to pursue our No Dig garden adventure armed with the great advice from Charles!
this diary is full of Fantastic information and will be of great help to me in the coming months as I start planting my new no dig garden looking forward very much in to putting into practice the advice and information that Charles Dowding and his team have supplied.
I am just starting to grow veg on a very small area (60m2) and the course is helping me a lot to plan my beds and the way how i want to grow each species. I would really appreciate a update from the layout of the course and eventually if some data of each vegetable would be listed in tables at the end so that you can find out more information at a glance and compare it to
eachother. Still giving this course 5 stars because there is so much of Charles valuable knowledge! Thanks for this beautiful Course!
Photo is from19th October (from Slovakia), first time sown rocket salad, spinach and lettuce in August according to your calendar…and the result, as you can see is amazing, we ate fresh leafy vegies even in December, awesome and delicious ❤️🔥 love your system and tips, keep learning us 🙏 hope, once i will do this as full-time job 🤞
They feel and look durable and following family tradition the first CD30 in use. 😀 My daughter and I will get many years of use out of these.
Your advice has helped me so much! I create and maintain all the beds following it - with one exception:
The biggest problem here are the slugs.
So I had to adjust. Wooden sides with wires and low electricity running through them. This is a barrier they cannot surpass.
Really happy with my purchases! The compost book goes into great detail on how to produce amazing compost, busting myths about composting and how to achieve the best results 😀
Inspiring! The great thing about Charles is the debunking of myth, advice on what not to do and how to take a lot of the work out of growing so that you can simply enjoy the process. Thanks Charles.
The Charles Dowding calendar is a mainstay in my veg gardening and has been part of my growing plan for several years now! I find it a useful way not only to check the best sowing dates, I also record when I’ve sown, planted out, first harvest and final harvest, so it’s really useful to review one year against previous ones.. I wouldn’t be without one.
